BLOOMS THE CHEMIST: YOUNG CRICKET CLINIC
For families doing it tough in our regional communities, sport can be an escape, a refuge from drought stricken land and water shortages.

Blooms The Chemist is a community based pharmacy who have chosen to highlight this focus through their “Our People, Our Community” campaign. In the Loupe was on hand to capture the Steve Waugh Cricket Clinic sponsored by Blooms The Chemist in Young as part of this campaign.

Steve Waugh, the ex Australian Cricket Captain and a Blooms The Chemist ambassador spent time with the kids on the day teaching them how to play cricket.

For families doing it tough in our regional communities, sport can be an escape, a refuge from drought stricken land and water shortages. The children from the country enjoyed the opportunity to have Steve and his son Austin develop their cricket skills, and take a break from doing it tough on the land.

There is also a big focus on getting local girls involved in cricket. Kelly, a coordinator for the cricket competitions, said “I say to all my guys that are looking at starting girls league, is pretty much, it’s the easiest thing we can do in cricket. It’s a ‘if you build it, they will come’.”
