PENRITH REGIONAL GALLERY: GAY TIME OLE
Gay Time Ole': Exploring the idea of the Ideal Home

We were so excited to be approached by Penrith Regional Gallery to produce a short film for an exhibition titled ‘The Ideal Home’.

The exhibition featured Cope Street Collective: Mathew Cooper and Colin Kinchea. We were invited to collaborate with the Cope Street Collective to create a short film – they brought their creativity, artistic vision and acting prowess, and we brought the technical videography know-how and high production values to bring their ideas to life.

The end product questions what the ideal family is – while challenging what families look like today and the issue of same sex marriage (in a pre-marriage equality world). This video explores race, gender roles and masculinity and it helps people to be more understanding and tolerant on these issues. Matt and Colin grew up in a loving and accepting environment but not everyone else is accepted. In country towns it can be incredibly difficult being both gay and Aboriginal.

The exhibition ran from the 1st December 2018 to the 24th March 2019.
